Why You Want a Free Offer
Having a free offer does two things:
#1: It allows you to test your paid offers to see the level of interest your followers have without spending a lot of time creating something your audience doesn’t want. I’ll be sharing a way to see the results later in the video.
#2: Using a free offer (“lead magnet”) as part of your strategic marketing plan is crucial in appealing to a larger portion of your followers who are in the 97% of people not ready to invest with you yet. Providing a free offer allows you to build a relationship with your audience and provide them with valuable content that will help establish you as an authority in your niche. This can help increase trust and credibility, making your potential clients more likely to engage with your content. And no matter if someone opts into your email list or you send it to them via a direct message, you are building your prospect list.
Step 1 – Identify Your Target Audience & Their Needs
To create an effective free offer, you need to be crystal clear about who your ideal client is and their needs. The easiest way to do this is to think of one person with one specific problem to which you can provide a solution that gets them a quick win.
You can start by asking yourself questions such as:
- Who are my ideal clients?
- What problems do they have that I can solve?
- Is there a common problem that many of them face?
- What kind of content will be most helpful for them based on where they are in their journey?
- What kind of information do they need to take action and see results quickly?
As you craft your free offer, keep in mind that it should be closely related to what you offer or specialize in as a coach. That way, you will be able to attract people who are actually interested in working with you.
My Incubator members use the Power of 3 Offer Formula to map out their unique offer formula. Your free offer gives them a quick win and provides a gap which is the natural next step to your lower ticket paid offer. In turn, this offer gives them a solid win and provides another gap to your next paid offer.
Once you have identified your target audience and their needs, you can begin crafting an offer tailored to their unique requirements.
Step 2 – Craft an Irresistible Offer That Fits Your Business Goals
Now it’s time to create the actual offer! This is where things get really exciting because this is where you get the chance to showcase what makes you an expert in your field.
Remember, when creating this free offer, keep your target audience in mind – make sure it resonates with them and solves one of their problems.
- Think about what type of content they would find valuable and what specific topics or issues they may be struggling with, as I mentioned above.
- Consider what you are promoting right now.
- If you have a workshop coming up, you could use your free offer as a bonus for people to register.
- Create a free offer to be included as a gift during podcasts and summit interviews.
BONUS: Earlier, I mentioned using your free offer to test an idea for a paid offer. It’s easy to create, and you can get real-time feedback to help you tweak a current offer or build a new offer.
You want the content itself to be relevant and insightful enough so that when they finish reading or consuming it, they feel like they’ve gained something valuable. If it’s not, you’ve just missed an opportunity!
Make sure to include resources such as links or further reading materials so they can dive deeper into the topic if needed. A hint – these should be your resources, so they get more of your expertise.
IMPORTANT: Finally, don’t forget about the presentation – invest some time into designing your free offer, so it looks professional and inviting! This small extra step may seem insignificant but trust me, presentation matters!
When crafting your lead magnet, think of how you can provide value while adding elements of excitement and anticipation – something that will leave the reader wanting more!

Step 3 – Promote Your Offer to Reach More Prospects
Once your lead magnet is ready for download, the fun part is promoting it!
There are several ways you can promote your free offer. It’s important to promote it in several places at the same time, so you can see where the most interest is coming from! Sharing it in one place limits your opportunities.
- If you have a website, it should be the hub you are driving your audience back to!
- Use social media platforms such as Facebook on your personal page to see if there’s any interest BEFORE you create it!
- Or if you have a business page or in your group if you have one – static posts and reels.
- You can promote it on Instagram and mention it in posts, stories and reels.
- Live video in the middle and at the end as a CTA (call to action)
You can also use email marketing by creating email campaigns specifically targeted toward people who have already expressed interest in what you do by subscribing or following any of your accounts online.
Lastly, don’t forget about organic reach; post regularly on all platforms (or just those where most of your followers are), sharing bits & pieces of what’s included in the freebie – this helps build up curiosity & anticipation among readers and increases engagement overall!
Creating a free offer that resonates with your target audience is essential to driving more prospects into your sales funnel.
Making sure the content itself is relevant and insightful and designing it professionally will help ensure you’re providing something of value while also adding elements of excitement and anticipation. Once you have created the lead magnet, there are numerous ways to promote it across different platforms and reach even more people. When done correctly, this can be an effective way to grow your list and increase engagement overall! With these tips in mind, go forth now and create a highly-effective free offer for yourself!
