You’re probably like most people and have a lot of knowledge rattling around in your head that you wish you could act on, but don’t know how. It’s frustrating, isn’t it? You know what you need to do but just can’t seem to get started. And even if you do start, you can never seem to follow through and see it through to the end.

This video is the answer for you. In it, I’ll show you how to take all that knowledge swimming around in your head and turn it into action in your business. I’ll also give you some tips for staying accountable so that you can finally achieve your goals.

The show notes are below.

So you’ve got the knowledge – now what? In order to turn that knowledge into action and see results in your business, you need to create a plan and put it into motion. Here are four steps to help you do just that.

Define What You Want to Achieve

The first step is to define what you want to achieve. This isn’t a BHAG (big hairy audacious goal) like starting your business. This is the breaking down to the main thing you need to focus on right now.

To figure that out, you need to answer these questions:

  • What is the main problem you solve for your clients?
  • What are the results they want to see?
  • How does that map back to what you want to achieve in your business?

For example, if you’re a business coach and you help your clients get clarity on their businesses, the results they want to see are a clear business plan, focus on their niche, and more consistent revenue. In order to achieve that in your business, you need to focus on creating cohesive offers, consistently marketing, and filling your pipeline with qualified leads.

If you are a wellness coach and you help your clients get healthy, the results they want to see are more energy, weight loss, and better sleep. In order to achieve that in your business, you need to focus on things like creating a course, social media outreach, and email marketing.

You get the idea. Once you’ve defined what you want to achieve, it’s time to move on to the next step that most don’t consider because they don’t know about it.

Gather the Information to Make it Happen

The difference between a goal and an action item on your to-do list is that you know how to achieve the action item. Your reticular activating system is a wonderful mental tool to help you get the information and resources to turn your knowledge into action. The RAS is like a filter on your subconscious and recognizes rewards and threats. So when you know what you want to achieve, it starts looking for information and resources that can help you achieve it.

To take full advantage of your RAS, you need to be specific about what you’re looking for. The more specific you are, the better results you’ll get. For example, if your goal is to write a book, your RAS will be more effective if you ask it to help you find resources on how to write a book, rather than just asking for help on writing.

You can use this same technique when gathering information for your business. If you want to start a podcast, for example, you can ask your RAS to help you find resources on how to start a podcast, what equipment you need, and who you should interview.

If you want to create a new coaching offer, you can ask your RAS to help you find information on what type of offer to create, what your target market wants, and how to price it.

You can use this technique for any area of your business where you want to take action. All you have to do is get clear on what you want, be specific in your request, and trust that the information will come. To clarify, this is NOT law of attraction. Your RAS is a filter on your subconscious that gets to work when you get clear on your goals.

You can also take advantage of your RAS by using affirmative statements such as, “I’m excited to find resources that will help me start my podcast” or “I’m confident I will find everything I need to write my book.” These statements help to program your subconscious to be on the lookout for the information and resources you need.

Identify Obstacles

One of the things that can stop people from achieving what they want is obstacles. The biggest one is the four inches between your ears, creating a comfort zone. The comfort zone is a nice place to visit, but you wouldn’t want to live there. It’s where your brain likes to keep you because it’s familiar and safe. But if you want to achieve something big in your business, you must step out of your comfort zone.

To identify the obstacles that are holding you back, ask yourself these questions:

  • What is stopping me from taking action?
  • What do I need to do to overcome this obstacle?
  • What’s the worst that can happen?

For example, let’s say you want to create a new coaching offer but are afraid of putting yourself out there on social media because you hate sales. Spoiler alert – you have to market your business to get clients. The problem is that you’re thinking too far ahead. Instead of creating the offer and spending a ton of time marketing it on social media, shift how you approach this and simply have conversations with your ideal clients to get their feedback. Yes, it takes time, but it also saves you from creating an offer that isn’t what your clients really need. The bonus = you create relationships that could turn into paying clients.

The worst that can happen is that no one buys it. But even if that happens, you’ve gained valuable insights that you can use to create a better offer next time.

Remember, the only way to fail is not to take action at all. So get out there and start taking those small steps that will lead you to your big goal.

Take Action and Adjust As You Go

Now that you’ve defined what you want to achieve and gathered the information to make it happen, it’s time to make a plan. This is where most people get stuck because they don’t know how to take all the information they’ve gathered and turn it into a plan of action.

This is where you take what you want to achieve and turn it into an actionable plan with specific steps that you can follow.

To do that, ask yourself these questions:

  • What are the specific steps you need to take in order to achieve your goal?
  • What resources do you need in order to accomplish those steps?
  • Who can help you achieve your goals?

Then, break down your steps into an action plan. This is a simple road map that will help you stay on track and make sure you’re taking the right actions in order to achieve your goal.

Your action plan should include:

– The steps you need to take

– The resources you need

– Who can help you

– When you will take each action

– How you will know if you’re successful

Once you have all your steps and action items laid out, it’s time to start taking action. And don’t forget, the goal is to take action – not to be perfect. So don’t get bogged down in the details or you’ll never get started.

The key is to start small and then adjust as you go. Remember, you can always add more to your plan, but it’s hard to take things away once you’ve started.

So pick one action item from your plan and commit to doing it within the next 24 hours. Once you’ve completed that action item, move on to the next one and keep going until you’ve achieved your goal. And don’t forget to celebrate your wins along the way! Achieving any goal is a big accomplishment so make sure to give yourself a pat on the back for all your hard work.

There you have it – a simple, step-by-step guide to turning knowledge into action in your business. Just remember to start small, adjust as you go, and celebrate your wins along the way.
